Buried to Rise Again
Scripture: “We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead… we too may live a new life.” — Romans 6:4
Baptism is more than water. It is more than a ceremony. It is the public declaration of a private miracle — the moment when the old life is buried and the new life rises.
When you step into the water, you are stepping into agreement with God’s truth:
Baptism is God’s reminder that transformation is not symbolic — it is supernatural. The water does not save you, but it testifies that salvation has already taken place. It is the outward sign of an inward resurrection.
Reflection
What part of your old identity tries to follow you into your new life? What label, nickname, diagnosis, or past mistake still tries to speak louder than God’s Word?
Prayer
Lord, thank You for burying my past and raising me into new life. Help me walk boldly in the identity You have given me. Silence every label that does not come from You, and let my life testify that I belong to Christ. Amen

John 15:15

Friendship is more than companionship—it is a divine gift, woven into the fabric of creation and modeled throughout scripture as a source of strength, joy, and spiritual growth. From the Garden of Eden to the ministry of Jesus, the Bible reveals friendship as a sacred bond that reflects God’s love and invites us into deeper communion with one another.
🌿 Friendship Begins with God
The Bible opens with a relational God who walks with Adam in the cool of the day (Genesis 3:8). This intimacy sets the tone: we were created for connection. In John 15:15, Jesus says to His disciples, “I no longer call you servants… Instead, I have called you friends.” This radical shift reveals that friendship with God is not only possible—it is central to the Christian life.
🤝 Biblical Models of Friendship
Throughout scripture, we encounter friendships that embody loyalty, sacrifice, and spiritual alignment:
💬 The Power of Words and Presence
Proverbs is rich with wisdom on friendship:
True friends speak truth in love, offer correction with compassion, and remain present through trials. Their words are balm, their presence a shelter.
🌟 Friendship as Ministry
Friendship is not just personal—it’s missional. When we embody Christlike friendship, we become vessels of healing and hope. Paul’s letters overflow with gratitude for his friends in ministry: Timothy, Silas, Priscilla, Aquila. These relationships fueled the early church and remind us that friendship is a form of spiritual partnership.
🙌 A Call to Cultivate Holy Friendship
In a world of fleeting connections, the Bible calls us to cultivate friendships rooted in grace, truth, and mutual honor. These relationships are not distractions from our spiritual walk—they are part of it. They reflect the heart of God, who desires that we walk together, bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and rejoice in shared victories.
Friendship, in its truest form, is a mirror of divine love. It is a sanctuary where souls are known, nurtured, and transformed. May we cherish it, steward it, and offer it freely—just as Christ has offered His friendship to us.

At Lydia’s Retreat Center, we believe that trusting God’s plan also means standing with those who carry His hope to the nations. Missionaries step into unfamiliar places with a familiar message — the love of Christ — and your support helps strengthen their hands as they serve, teach, and uplift communities across the globe.
Whether through prayer, encouragement, or financial partnership, every act of support becomes a seed of faith planted in someone’s life. As you grow through today’s devotional, consider how God might be inviting you to join in His work beyond your own borders. Together, we can help shine His light in places longing for hope.

At Lydia’s Retreat Center, we believe ministry begins right where God has planted us. Community outreach programs serve families, and communities across the nation who are longing for hope, encouragement, and practical support.
When you partner with these efforts—through prayer, giving, or volunteering—you help extend Christ’s love into neighborhoods, shelters, schools, and local ministries that need it most.
Every act of support becomes a reminder that God sees, God cares, and God moves through ordinary people willing to make a difference. Together, we can strengthen hearts, uplift communities, and shine His light right here at home.
